It seems that Panera isn’t the only one jumping on the health wagon. Today Taco Bell announced that they will be holding themselves to a new set of standards for ingredients and will be removing artificial colors, flavors, added trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, or unsustainable palm oil from their foods by the end of 2015.
In a statement released by Taco Bell they said “In all cases, they will be replaced with natural alternatives.”
The good news in all this, Taco Bell will not be increasing their prices with the new set of ingredients.
But Taco Bell isn’t the only one who had an announcement today. Pizza Hut announced that they plan on removing all artificial flavors and colors from its pizza by the end of July. Pizza Hut has already removed all artificial trans fat and MSG from its food.
“We’re just here to listen to our customers and they want less in their food and they want simpler ingredients and that what we’re doing,” said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s Chief Food Innovation Officer.
This all comes with McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A committed to remove antibiotics from their meats and Chipotle going GMO free.
