As many know, California is in a horrible drought, with many counties being placed on a water restriction and the ability to wash your car or water your garden is next to impossible. But with the drought getting worse, farmers are now being effected by the drought as well.
Farmers in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta area agreed to cut their water use by a quarter this season. In doing this, farmers will leave some of their land unplanted and also search for ways to also reduced their water usage.
This is only 5 percent of the growers in California, so it is unlikely that food prices will be impacted, at least at this time.
